We had Ambassador Steak and Bream Citron (tilapia), both dishes were fantastic, the bourbon sauce with the steak was to die for-so delicious, New York cut was pink, just the way it is supposed to be- this is a refreshing jewel for Idaho Falls and the service was top notch!! Desserts are unique and delicious as well! We had chocolate cake and blueberry bread pudding- don't miss out- visit this wonderful restaurant and prepare for tastebuds to be amazed!

Great food! Had the fried green beans, Angels on horseback (smoked oysters on toast points) pork roulade which was awesome. Plat ala rendezvous with andouille sausage and shrimp. Very yummy! Great food for a nice relaxing meal.

Today I had a wonderful lunch with my grandmother and were treated to some delicious items from the menu. While we were the only people in the whole entire restaurant, we had an excellent lunch with a very attentive server and food from a very talented chef. I recommend people try the pear mint soup as it was one of the best fruit purées I've ever eaten. For my entrée I had the meatloaf of which had such a profound taste that was different from any meatloaf I've ever eaten prior. The uniqueness came out of the sauce which was a French influenced sauce which brought the full flavor of the meatloaf to the foreground within each and every bite. While the restaurant itself could use some updating as it still hosts a portion of decor from restaurants past it still houses great food cooked with great skill.

Really good food at a reasonable price! This location has struggled for years, and tonight was no exception - I was the only patron at 7:30 on a Friday night. But I'd like to see that change, because the food was really tasty. There were some great dishes and a couple of near misses. Started off with a stuffed grilled shrimp that was delicately flavored and nicely presented. The Senate bean and ham soup was thick and tasty, though it was merely warm - still pleasant, but I didn't want to linger. Ordered the pork roulade for an entree and it was fabulous. The meat was moist and sliced thick, the spinach stuffing provided an interesting texture and flavor contrast, and the sauce was light and slightly tangy. The accompanying steamed broccoli was firm with good flavor, but was slightly marred by excess water retained in the florets. The apple blossom dessert was simple and light and made an excellent finish. Tracy was my server, and she was friendly, efficient (to be expected when one's the only diner, I suppose) and personable. I plan on returning soon!

Our group of 8 went to this restraunt and all walked away full and happy! The food was delicious. We tried french dip, meatloaf, jambalaya, burgers and stuffed shrimp. Highly recommend! The apple crumble and peanut butter mouse for dessert was amazing.

tl;dr: Owner was frustrated actually having customers in his restaurant and drove us away. First off let me say that this describes the same incident that Nate C. mentions in his review. I feel that some more info about the experience would be helpful. Everything took place on the Friday evening after we had all attended the awards ceremony for the Mountain Brewers Festival. We arrived at Alchemy Bistro with 9 people and were seated and treated to a very nice welcoming from the server. Looking around the restaurant we quickly noticed that the restaurant was empty apart from a single table of two. It is always a bit concerning when you are eating in an empty restaurant on a Friday night. However, the reviews so far on Yelp looked promising and we were happy to try out a new place. Anyhow, our servers was great and was taking very good care of us and took our order. During this time the cook and a man whom we all believe to be the owner was hanging out in the kitchen looking bored and kind of just watching. After ordering our meal we had two friends walk into the restaurant and we made some room for them. So far everything was still a-ok and another small group of two showed up and the owner went over to take their order and help the server out for a second. During this time while the owner was taking an order another 4 of our friends showed up (remember that this is right after the awards ceremony and pretty much everyone in downtown Idaho Falls that night knew each other as they all worked in breweries or the beer industry). We were talking to these friends and saying that they would probably be able to have a table near us (there was no way to add another table) when the owner waked up and angrily said "No! I will not allow this! First you were nine, then you were 11 and now this! No!" At first we were all sure he must be kidding as remember his restaurant had only 4 other customers in it on a Friday night. He was not kidding. I simply couldn't believe it. He was seriously angry that he had customers in his business. Three of us at our table are restaurant owners, 1 works in a restaurant, 1 in the hotel/hospitality business. None of us could believe what was going on. I, being probably the least tactful in our group, got into it with the owner basically asking if he was seriously pissed that we had brought business into his empty, empty restaurant. I certainly wasn't going to give this man my money. I just said screw it and left after this exchange. My wife immediately walked out with me. Moments later our entire party was on our way elsewhere. Snakebite across the street (always amazing btw) was packed with a pretty serious wait list so we headed out to the Thai restaurant a block away where our now party of 14 was treated spectacularly well. If the server at Alchemy ever reads this, I feel really sorry for you and wish we were able to give you a piece of the gratuity you should have received from our business. This business wasn't there a year ago and I doubt it will be there on my next visit. The owner should not be in the hospitality business and presuming that his catering business does well, he should stick to that and avoid any interactions with customers. Amy's Baking Company has a serious competitor in this restaurant.

Came in with 9 people. Had 5 more join us, mind you there were 2 people in the entire restaurant, the chef told us they could not accommodate, was very rude and essentially told us to leave.

Alchemy Bistro needs some "tough love", and ASAP if they want to keep their doors open. Hopefully, the owner of this place (who is also the chef, apparently) has some friends in the industry who can give him the straight talk NOW, and suggestions on updating/improving everything. I dined there for lunch this week, and the place was completely empty at noon, except for a table with two women, who were finishing their lunch and getting ready to leave when we arrived. First of all, the decor. The thin, cheap plastic tablecloths were a distraction during the business lunch I had there this week. My colleague had to keep adjusting it to keep it from sliding off of the table. This is supposed to be a French, American, and Austrian bistro. Are linen tablecloths too much to ask? No tablecloths at all (provided there are nice tabletops underneath), with linen napkins and decent silverware would actually be better. The menu itself? Mine was dirty, and looked extremely outdated, almost as if it was carried over from a previous, bygone restaurant. Food was disappointing, and served in odd, outdated dishes that were incorrectly sized. The salad that was served to my dining companion was called a "Mediterranean Salad", yet it had whole black olives, out of a can, and what appeared to be odd slices of pickled egg yolks? If you're going to use whole olives in a Mediterranean salad, they should at least be kalamata. The chicken on his salad also seemed dry and overcooked. My BLT sandwich was not bad, hence the two stars instead of one. It was served on what appeared to be Hawaiian bread or Texas toast, and I could not tell if the bread was very lightly toasted, or just starting to turn stale. Other than that, pretty decent. Although we did not order any alcoholic beverages, I glanced at the drink menu. Unimpressive, and again, outdated! The cocktails were listed under "Party Beverages", and this list was downright laughable. I think one of the drinks was actually called "Bahama Mama"....?? The drink list seemed right out of an 80's nightclub, without irony! In this day and age of craft cocktails and curated drink menus, I would strongly suggest the management of this place rethinking the beverage menu, entirely. Sitting in an empty restaurant, eating mediocre food while looking around and seeing items inappropriately sitting out in plain view of diners, especially the folding table with a pizza box and several plastic bins and other supplies, ostensibly from Alchemy's catering business, was a real turnoff as well. Seeing the chef plop himself down at the bar with a laptop and leisurely check his email in front of us, was also a bad impression. Keep all of the office stuff, catering supplies, etc. in the back of the house. The front of the house is the impression you make to your customers, period. Alchemy seems very promising when one first walks through the door, but things go downhill a few steps later, once you get seated in the dining room. I dined several times at the previous restaurant that occupied this space, Il Castello, and although they sadly closed their doors, they would blow this place out of the water. Good luck!

Single handedly the best food in Idaho Falls, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't go here. The best jambalaya I've ever had. Super hospitality. I even bought the hot sauce! Will definitely return.
